The Semi Di Pace Humanitarian Association began its activities at the Citadel, a state-owned complex of approximately two hectares located on the outskirts of the city of Tarquinia, in the province of Viterbo, Italy. Land recuperation efforts began in 1999 and included the construction of temporary office buildings, warehouses for material resources destined for redistribution, two children's play areas, an educational microfarm, a greenhouse for growing organic products, and a forest. Today, the Citadel represents an important center for social inclusion where people can enjoy social and welfare services, engage in recreational activities, and participate in cultural events.
