René González Barrios

Retired Colonel of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR). Graduated in Juridical Sciences at the University of Havana in 1984. Master of Science. President of the Institute of Cuban History (IHC), member of the Academy of Cuban History (AHC), the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) and the National Union of Historians of Cuba (UNHIC). On October 8, 2018 he was conferred the Order of Civil Merit, in the category of Encomienda, such distinction was issued by the King of Spain, Felipe VI, in recognition of his work, for strengthening the ties of friendship between both nations and promoting culture.
