Sociedad Cultural José Martí, filial Sancti Spíritus
Branch of the José Martí Cultural Society in the province of Sancti Spíritus, Cuba. The José Martí Cultural Society is a non-governmental, non-profit organization, created on October 20, 1995, Cuban Culture Day, at the initiative of prominent intellectuals: Armando Hart (who would be its first president), Cintio Vitier, Eusebio Leal, Abel Prieto, Roberto Fernández Retamar, Carlos Martí and Enrique Ubieta. Seeks to contribute to the widest dissemination of the life, work and example of José Martí (1853-1895), National Hero and Apostle of Cuba; and bring together people inside and outside of Cuba identified with Marti's values such as honesty, solidarity, altruism and the fight for equity and social justice, in order to contribute to the construction of a better world. It has consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) and belongs to the organizing committee of global events such as the International Conference FOR THE OF THE WORLD BALANCE and the International Colloquium: FOR A CULTURE OF NATURE.
