Félix Varela

Considered in Cuba as "the one who first taught us to think", according to the happy phrase of one of his disciples, José de la Luz y Caballero. The entry into Cuba of modern philosophy and physics is due to him, the creation of the theory of Cuban emancipation and legal, social and other genre studies that founded his anti-slavery and independence position. In his works the reader will find the roots of the thought of José Martí and of a large part of the intelligentsia and the Cuban political and social world; also, the original impulse of the Cuban sciences.
