Felipe Poey y Aloy

If José A. Saco was the politician, sociologist and historian, if J. Luz y Caballero, the philosopher and educator; Felipe Poey is the scientist, the naturalist. To him we owe the first geography of Cuba and a universal geography that highlights precisely what the geographies made in Europe placed in the background. America, Africa and Asia are of the greatest interest to Poey. In particular, one of the works that presented the most difficulties was the rescue of his Cuban Ichthyology, which after 116 years of having been awarded in Holland and Paris, received the deterioration of time, humidity and insects. For the first time this work is published, which contains almost all the fish of the Cuban platform.
