Antonio José Valdés

Teacher, journalist, historian and author of textbooks for schools. His work General principles of the Castilian language (1806) was the first grammar published in Cuba. Among his works are also: Cuaderno de Aritmética (1813), History of the Island of Cuba, History of Havana (1813), Grammar and spelling (1817) and especially The first three historians of the Island of Cuba ( 1877) together with José Martin Félix de Arrate.
