Beatriz Marcheco Teruel

Cuban scientist. Specialist in clinical genetics and Director of the Center for Medical Genetics. She holds the 2015-2016 Cuban Academy of Sciences (ACC) Award. On September 21, 2017, she received the Sofia Kovalievskaia Prize 2015-2016 in its seventh edition, conferred by the Foundation named after the famous Russian scientist and feminist of the 19th century. The prize was awarded to the Medical Genetics research in Cuba: its results and impact on Maternal and Child Health care in 35 years (1980-2014), by the group of authors Beatriz Marcheco Teruel, Araceli Lantigua Cruz, Iris Rojas Betancourt, Yudelkis Benítez Cordero of the National Center for Medical Genetics.
