Francisco Blanco Ávila

Cartoonist, cartoonist, and journalist. Founder and editor of the comic book magazines "Cómicos", "Pablo" and "Mi Barrio". Deserving of about 50 national and international awards in the specialty. Editorial cartoonist of the newspaper El Mundo since 1960 and cartoonist of the Prensa Latina news agency in 1959. He was also the founder of the weekly Palante y Palante, which he directed between 1970 and 1985. He was a founding member of the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC), the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) and the Cuban Association of Social Communicators (ACCS). José Martí National Journalism Award 2018. He passed away on April 10, 2021
