José Ramón Fernández Álvarez

known as El Gallego Fernández, was an outstanding Cuban revolutionary. Hero of the Republic of Cuba, Major General of the Reserve and Advisor to the President of the Councils of State and Ministers. He had an outstanding career in the service of the Revolution. He held different responsibilities in the Revolutionary Armed Forces, the State and the Government, as well as in the Cuban Olympic Committee. He was a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and Deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power.
